SSCS Strategic Plan

Five-Year Roadmap
Motto: IC Innovation

2026–2030 Strategic Plan

The IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society has adopted a new five-year strategic plan for 2026 through 2030, in alignment with IEEE strategy. The plan is our blueprint to address the social and technical challenges facing our society, embrace the changing perspectives, demographics and needs of members and the integrated-circuits community, and expand our technical scope by stimulating interactions with other communities and promoting forward-looking topics.

The strategic plan outlines three key goals, closely aligned to the IEEE strategic plan, where projects and activities will be developed: Empowered, Dynamic, and Impactful.

Vision Statement

To foster innovation and excellence in solid-state circuits for the benefit of humanity.

Mission Statement

The mission of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society is to empower and advance the global solid-state integrated circuit community through education, peer-reviewed publications, conferences, collaboration, and public service.

Goal 1 • Empowered

Empowering SSCS Community Collaboration

Broaden participation in SSCS activities; partner with other communities to encourage interdisciplinary innovation and problem solving.

2026–2030 Strategies:
  • 1.1 Motivate and empower society membership to support the worldwide solid-state circuits community
  • 1.2 Provide timely and tangible SSCS membership benefits
  • 1.3 Expand volunteer opportunities and encourage greater participation from membership and the broader community
  • 1.4 Engage in and expand targeted activities to broaden participation in and from local and global communities
  • 1.5 Foster interdisciplinary innovation through partnering with other societies and organizations, reinforcing the foundational building block nature of solid-state circuits

Goal 2 • Dynamic

Dynamic Programs and Publications to Advance the Frontiers of Innovation

Be an indispensable source of technical information and education through events, programs, and publications reflecting solid-state circuit concepts and advances.

2026–2030 Strategies:
  • 2.1 Maintain and grow the quality of journals, conferences, workshops, and educational programs
  • 2.2 Develop programs and events focused on industry needs, young professionals, students, the broader solid-state circuits community, and solid-state circuits career development
  • 2.3 Employ creative use of critical and emerging technologies, including AI, in support of events, programs, and publications. Leverage and share best practices and experiences with other communities

Goal 3 • Impactful

Impact in Service to Humanity

Enable and advance solid-state circuits as a foundational technology to meet the needs of humanity.

2026–2030 Strategies:
  • 3.1 Build and engage in the worldwide community through chapters, local activities, and other initiatives
  • 3.2 Support outreach to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students
  • 3.3 As SSCS and in partnership with other groups and organizations, educate the public regarding solid-state circuits
  • 3.4 Promote public awareness of the role of solid-state circuits in fostering advances in technology for the benefit of human welfare

For each goal, SSCS committees use strategies as guides to develop tactics and assessments.
