With ISSCC 2026 now concluded, the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) reflects on one of the week’s most significant highlights: honoring our Outstanding Reviewers.
Although the San Francisco conference highlighted groundbreaking advances, the true foundation of innovation lies in the rigorous, year-round peer-review process behind the scenes.
SSCS thrives on the selfless dedication of volunteers. Our leading publications—including the Journal of Solid-State Circuits (JSSC), SSC Magazine, OJ-SSCS, and SSC-L—maintain their status as global gold standards thanks to the technical rigor of our reviewers.
This year’s Outstanding Reviewers were selected for consistently exceeding expectations. Through their time and expertise, they serve as:
The Standard-Bearers: Ensuring every manuscript meets the highest levels of accuracy and innovation.
The Mentors: Providing constructive feedback that helps authors from around the world elevate their research.
The Curators: Helping select the papers that will ultimately shape the future of the semiconductor industry.
Peer review is a cornerstone of scientific integrity and a significant time commitment. To show our appreciation, we recognized reviewers who completed the highest volume of manuscripts and consistently provided rigorous, timely feedback.
Meeting so many dedicated experts in person at the SSCS Booth last week was a privilege. Presenting our awardees with certificates and a special gift package underscored our appreciation. These in-person connections are a powerful reminder that our society is, above all, a global network of peers committed to mutual success.

The IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Asif Khan as the new Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Journal on Exploratory Solid-State Computational Devices and Circuits (JxCDC).
Dr. Khan, a renowned semiconductor technologist and Associate Professor at Georgia Tech, takes the helm of this premier venue for exploratory research, where he will lead the publication’s mission to bridge the gap between materials science, devices, and circuit design.
- Energy-Efficient Logic: Lowering the power floor for next-gen computing.
- AI Hardware: Developing the physical substrates for advanced neuromorphic systems.
- Beyond-CMOS Technologies: Engineering the materials and microelectronics of the future.
A recipient of the Intel Rising Star Award and the NSF CAREER Award, Dr. Khan’s impact is recognized across both academia and industry. His recent selection to the National Academy of Engineering Frontiers of Engineering Symposium (2025) underscores his status as a visionary in the semiconductor field.
Beyond the lab, Dr. Khan is a dedicated mentor and community leader, actively advising semiconductor startups and engaging in STEM outreach to inspire future innovators.
As we embark on this new chapter, we express our deepest gratitude to our outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Azad Naeemi. Under Azad’s stewardship, JxCDC has established itself as a leading hub for cross-disciplinary research that pushes the boundaries of solid-state technology. We thank him for his years of dedicated service and his immense contributions to the SSCS and EDS communities.
With Dr. Khan leading, JxCDC remains committed to publishing high-impact research on emerging computational devices. We look forward to his leadership as the journal continues to explore the frontiers of solid-state innovation.

The IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) proudly announces the appointment of Prof. Qun Jane Gu as the new Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Solid-State Circuits Magazine.
Prof. Gu, a distinguished leader in the field and a Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech, assumes this role to guide the magazine into its next chapter of technical excellence and community engagement.
Prof. Gu brings extensive expertise in high-efficiency interconnects, millimeter-wave, and terahertz integrated circuits. As the leader of the ICS² Lab at Georgia Tech, she has led a research group that has earned international acclaim, garnering nine best-paper awards at prestigious conferences, including the IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS).
Beyond her research, Prof. Gu has been a tireless advocate for the society’s growth and inclusivity. Her previous leadership roles include:
- Editorial Leadership: Associate Editor for the IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits (JSSC) and Guest Editor for multiple top-tier IEEE publications.
- Society Service: 2022–2023 IEEE SSCS Distinguished Lecturer and steering committee member for the Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits Symposium (RFIC).
- Advocacy: A devoted supporter of the “Women in Circuits” initiative, helping mentor the next generation of female engineers.
As we welcome Prof. Gu, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Leonid (Leo) Belostotski. Under his visionary leadership, the magazine has flourished as a premier resource, bridging the gap between fundamental circuit theory and practical industry advances. We thank him for his dedicated service and lasting impact on the SSCS community.
Under Prof. Gu’s leadership, the magazine will continue to deliver deep technical insights and community-focused content for our members. We look forward to the fresh perspectives and expertise she brings to this pivotal role.
Join us in celebrating this transition!
