The Solid-State Circuits Society Chapter of the IEEE Student Branch at Cinvestav has been exceptionally active, excelling in organizing diverse talks and courses that have enhanced the expertise of its members and the broader student body.

Among standout activities, three talks were held in partnership with the Electron Devices Society (EDS) Chapter. These presentations addressed pressing topics for students and professionals. The first, “Work Experience at Quality Management Department at Infineon,” offered direct insights into quality management in the semiconductor industry. The second, “Infrastructure for the Design of Analog/Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuits in Industry,” examined real-world challenges and solutions in the design of integrated circuits. The third, “Use of FPGAs in the Semiconductor Industry,” detailed the role of FPGAs in industry projects and their influence on innovation.

Beyond these talks, the chapter has delivered targeted courses. Two have been offered so far: “RTL Design Course in Verilog Language” and “SystemVerilog for Verification,” providing students with tangible skills in circuit design and verification.

One of the most notable activities was the chapter’s collaboration in the course organized by Cinvestav – Zacatenco to conduct the “Digital IC Design Academy” by Synopsys. This seven-week course covered crucial topics, including verification, logical synthesis, physical synthesis, and advanced topics, culminating in a closing session. The course featured the participation of eight instructors and three evaluators, ensuring a comprehensive and high-quality learning experience.

These initiatives not only enhance students’ technical skills but also foster collaboration among IEEE branches, speeding up the professional development of future engineers.

At Sri Sai Ram Engineering College, innovation is more than a theme—it is a way of life embraced by the IEEE SSCS Student Branch Chapter. In 2025, our chapter organized several impactful programs that fostered creativity, technical competence, and collaboration among students and the community.

On 14 February 2025, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Outreach Program was conducted at GHSS, West Mambalam in collaboration with IEEE PELS. The event introduced school students to entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology through interactive sessions on business models, presentation skills, and hands-on Arduino training. By engaging in circuit design and problem-solving, participants were encouraged to think creatively and adopt an entrepreneurial mindset.

On 11 April 2025, we hosted Game Changers – Spotlight Awards 2025, a two-day boot camp on machine learning held at the Sai Ram Incubation Center. Led by Mr. Gowtham Swaminathan, MLOps Engineer at NielsenIQ (India) Pvt Ltd, the boot camp provided practical insights into ML concepts, tools, and applications. Students gained hands-on experience building models and exploring real-world use cases, which not only enhanced their technical skills but also instilled confidence to pursue innovation in artificial intelligence.

Finally, on 29 July 2025, the chapter conducted QUANTEX 2025, a vibrant competition blending mental and physical challenges. Activities such as Mind Mirror, Sketch & Guess, and Cup Chaos tested memory, creativity, coordination, and quick thinking. The event fostered teamwork, problem-solving, and a spirit of friendly competition, making it both intellectually stimulating and enjoyable.

Through these initiatives, the IEEE SSCS SBC at Sri Sai Ram Engineering College continues to inspire students to explore technology, embrace innovation, and develop as future leaders in engineering.
