REGISTRATION OPEN: 2020 Symposia on VLSI Technology and Circuits

We are pleased to announce that the We are pleased to announce that the 2020 Symposia on VLSI Technology and Circuits to be held online from June 15 to 19th has released its Advanced Program, which can be found here. Now in its 40th year, the Symposia aims to continue to be the premier joint gathering of the semiconductor technology and circuits communities and it will focus around the theme of "The Next 40 Years of VLSI for Ubiquitous Intelligence." This week-long virtual conference will push the state-of-the-art in Technology and Circuits with more than 200 contributed technical presentations, technology and circuit demonstrations, 3 short courses, a “Friday” Forum and a “Luncheon” talk. Registrations fees have been substantially reduced to encourage wide participation, starting at $300 for IEEE and JSAP members ($150 for students).

In addition to the on-demand sessions, the VLSI Symposia on Technology and Circuits will also feature an exciting program of live events, scheduled around the clock to be convenient to the global VLSI community. The live program includes 4 amazing plenary speakers, 3 panel discussions, 3 workshops, mentoring sessions for students and young professionals, and, new this year, 25 Executive Sessions on different topics of VLSI. The goal of the Executive Sessions in the VLSI Symposia is to foster a discussion about the current state and future of the field. All conference participants are welcome to join these meetings and contribute with insight and questions.

Although nothing can compare to the in-person interactions of a live conference, we are very excited about the new opportunities that the virtual format allows, and we are looking forward to bringing the community together from June 15 to June 18 (PDT) as we celebrate the ingenuity and impact of the VLSI Technology and Circuits community this June. You can find more information about the conference program below and at https://vlsisymposium.org/program/ . The registration page for the conference is https://vlsisymposium.org/registration/.

Symposia Highlights

The Symposia program provides a unique perspective on the microelectronics industry by integrating the technology ecosystem of converging industry trends – machine learning, IoT, artificial intelligence, wearable/implantable biomedical applications, big data, cloud / edge computing, virtual reality (VR) /augmented reality (AR), robotics, and autonomous vehicles – with the advanced circuit design and application platforms that will realize the future promise of “ubiquitous intelligence.”

Plenary Sessions (June 15 & 17):

The Symposia will have two plenary sessions. The first session on June 15 will feature , “5G Evolution and 6G,” by Takehiro Nakamura, senior vice president & general manager of 5G Laboratories, NTT DOCOMO and “Silicon is Greener: Why Innovation in Circuits is Needed for Sustainability,” by Jen Lloyd, vice president for the Precision Technology & Platforms Group, Analog Devices.

The second plenary session on June 17 will include “The Future of Compute: How the Data Transformation is Reshaping VLSI,” by Michael C. Mayberry, senior vice president and chief technology officer at Intel Corporation; and “Empowering Next-Generation Applications through FLASH Innovation” by Shigeo (Jeff) Ohshima, technology executive at KIOXIA (formerly Toshiba Memory).

Joint Focus Sessions:

The Symposia includes a series of joint focus sessions to increase the integration between the Technology and Circuits communities. Topics will include: “Silicon Photonics,” “5G / mm-wave,” “System-Technology Co-Optimization (STCO) / Design-Technology Co-Optimization (DTCO),” and “MRAM Future – Opportunities Beyond Spin-Torque Transfer (STT).” to be held online from June 15 to 19th has released its Advanced Program, which can be found here.
