SSCSx Lecture Series
SSCSx Lectures are a series of lectures that are free to society members. These lectures will be posted on the SSCS Resource Center. The SSCS Resource Center can be accessed by visiting http://resourcecenter.sscs.ieee.org.
Lectures on Noise
The first series of lectures are by Behzad Razavi on Noise.
Abstract: Noise presents fundamental trade-offs in circuit design, requiring a rigorous understanding of the noise properties of various circuit topologies. This lecture series begins with basic noise concepts and the noise models necessary for representing the behavior of resistors and transistors. It then deals with the analysis of noise in circuits and provides a methodical, intuitive approach. Next, the noise performance of basic amplifier stages is formulated and key insights are developed. Finally, these insights are applied to the design of low-noise op amps and switched-capacitor circuits.
Information on the SSCS Resource Center
The SSCS Resource Center is a hub of information which includes On Demand SSCS Products. The Resource Center brings value to SSCS members by consolidating, storing, and making SSCS materials easily accessible. The goal of the Resource Center is to enable SSCS members to secure content at little or no-cost and enable non-society members to secure valuable content at low pricing. On the SSCS Resource Center, you will find ISSCC short courses and tutorials from 2006 to 2015. You'll also find past webinar videos and slides, open access publications, and our CONFx series. The CONFx series features short 10-minute talks from SSCS sponsored conferences. With many of the products on the Resource Center, users have the opportunity to earn Continuing Education Units (CEU) or Professional Development Hours (PDH). Coming soon to the SSCS Resource Center is the SSCSx Lecture Series. These will be a series of lectures on a specific and specialized topic.
Resource Center content is free for SSCS members and educational credits are available at low cost to SSCS members. Non-members may also access all of the SSCS Resource Center content, but must pay a fee; fees vary from product to product.
To get started with the Resource Center, follow these simple instructions:
1). Go to the Resource Center (click here). Be sure to bookmark the page. Sign in at the upper right hand corner using your IEEE credentials. If you don't already have an IEEE login, you can obtain one for free. Please click here.
2). You will be taken to a new window where you can enter your IEEE username and password. Click sign and you will be taken back to the SSCS Resource Center.
3). Select which product you'd like to download. Use the navigation pane on the top (where it says Short Courses and Tutorials, Webinars, CONFx Series, Publications) to view products, then select which product you'd like to access. Click on the product.
4). Regardless of whether you're an SSCS member or not, or whether or not the item you've selected is free for you or not, you will still have to add items to you cart and checkout. To do this, scroll down and click "Add to Cart".
5). You will be brought to a new screen. Click "Proceed to Check Out" and be sure to review your subtotal. (Note: At this stage, you can edit you cart and remove any items).
6). Select your method of payment. A pop-up screen will prompt you to enter your credit card information and click "Continue Checkout". You can also pay via PayPal.
7). You will be brought to a new screen again. Click on the checkbox next to "I have read and agreed to the IEEE Terms & Conditions". Click place my order.
8). You will be brought to a screen that confirms your order. Click "View Video" to view your video or "View PDF" to view your product. The video will be available for viewing for 265 days and PDFs are downloadable. Please note that you may not download videos, you can only watch them on the Resource Center. If you are purchasing slides or transcripts, you will be able to download the slides and save them to your computer. You will receive an email confirmation regarding your product purchase as well.
If you have any questions, please email Abira Sengupta at abira.sengupta@ieee.org.
Process for Earning CEU's or PDH's
Please note that currently CEU's and PDH's through the Resource Center are only available for our CONFx series. CEU's and PDH's are $5 for SSCS Members, $7 for IEEE members, and $10 for non-members.
1). Go to the Resource Center (click here). Sign in at the upper right hand corner using your IEEE credentials.
2). You will be taken to a new window where you can enter your IEEE username and password. Click sign-in. You'll be taken back to the Resource Center.
3). Select which product you'd like to download. Since CEU's and PDH's are only available for our CONFx series, please select one of those. The CEU's and PDH's are associated with videos ONLY at .02 CEU's and .2 PDH's. Select the video and click "Add to Cart"
Note: For products that have CEU/PDH credits, you will always have an option to purchase the educational credits when you are purchasing the product.
4). You will be brought to a new screen. Click "Proceed to Check Out" and be sure to review your subtotal. (Note: At this stage, you can edit you cart and remove any items).
5). Select your method of payment. A pop-up screen will prompt you to enter your credit card information and click "Continue Checkout". You can also pay via PayPal.
6). You will be brought to a new screen again. Click on the checkbox next to "I have read and agreed to the IEEE Terms & Conditions". Click Place My Order.
7). Go back to the original video and click Launch Quiz.
8). You will be brought to a new screen. Move through the quiz questions, select an answer and click save and continue to the next question. When you're finished, click submit. A pop-up will come up asking you to confirm your submission. Click OK.
9). You will get a pop-up confirmation telling you your assessment has been submitted.
10). You will be brought to a new screen telling you your score. You must have a score of at least 80% and will get three attempts.
11). You will receive an email automatically from SSCS with your certificate. Click "Print My Certificate" to print a copy for your records. Your past certificates are also stored in your IEEE member profile.
Note: For products that have CEU/PDH credits, you will always have an option to purchase the educational credits when you are purchasing the product.
