Special Issue on Low-Power RF Circuits and Systems

IEEE Open Journal of the Solid-State Circuits Society

CALL FOR PAPERS

Special issue on

Low-Power RF Circuits and Systems

Next generation applications ranging from wearables, smart cities, and general Internet of Things devices require increasingly sophisticated functionality, and yet must do so at very low power levels to enable long battery life operation. Since the power consumption of wireless connectivity often dominates the power consumption of the entire device, there is significant demand for RF circuits and systems that consume very low power.

This special issue aims to dive into RF circuit and system designs and techniques that enable a material reduction in power over conventional techniques. The issue aims to target designs for personal and body-area networks, energy-detection-based receivers with interference resiliency, low-power standards-based radios, ultra-wide-band techniques, backscatter techniques, wake-up receivers, enabling security and privacy for wireless links at low power levels, low-power mm-wave/5G/6G circuits, and beyond. Original research contributions describing new integrated circuits and systems are desired, along with in-depth and comprehensive review articles.

Authors are invited to submit papers following the IEEE Open Journal of the Solid-State Circuits Society (OJ-SSCS) guidelines, within the remit of this Special Section call.

Topics include (but are not limited to):

·       Body-area networks

·       Wake-up receivers

·       Standards-based receivers (BLE, NB-IoT, LoRa, Cat-M1, etc.)

·       Backscatter transmitters

·       PHY-layer security and privacy considerations

·       Ultra-Wide-Band

·       Low-power mm-wave

·       Low-power 5G/6G circuits

Submission Guidelines: All submitted manuscripts must

(i)       conform to OJ-SSCS' normal formatting requirements and page count limits;

(ii)     incorporate no less than 70% of new (previously unpublished) material;

(iii)    validate principal claims with experimental results;

(iv)    be submitted online at: https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/oj-sscs

Please note that you need to select " Low-Power RF Circuits and Systems" when you submit a paper to this Special Issue.

For papers submitted in 2023, the APC is US$1950 plus applicable local taxes. The first 15 papers published in 2023 in the OJ-SSCS will receive a full waiver of the APC.

The following subsequent discounts apply:

  • IEEE Members receive a 5% discount.
  • IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society Members receive a 20% discount.

(5% and 20% discounts do not apply to undergraduate and graduate students. Discounts cannot be combined.)
