OJ-SSCS Submission - Information for Authors
Article Submission
1. All articles must be submitted via our submission site.

2. Format your article for submission using the Transactions article template located in the IEEE Author Center. Follow all guidelines on stylistic elements such as figures, tables, equations, abbreviations, etc. Figures and tables must be placed inline at their relevant position in the text. Author names and affiliations are mandatory, but biographies are optional during the review process.
3. Submit your article text in PDF format. Visit the IEEE Author Center for information on writing the abstract, using equations in your article, publishing author names in native languages, and more.
4. For information on submitting supplementary material such as graphical abstracts, multimedia, or datasets, visit the IEEE Author Center.
Manuscript Length
Submitted manuscripts, describing both the theoretical and implementation aspects of an advance solid-state circuit design, are allowed to have up to 8 pages in the two-column format described above. This page limit is valid for the whole manuscript, but excluding references and bios. All figures must be sized such that they are properly readable. No modifications to the IEEE templates are allowed.
Exceptions of up to 4 extra pages are possible for systems or topics that do not fit in this regular length. To request such an exception, a detailed motivation must be provided at the time of submission. Exceptions are subject to approval by the editorial board.
During revisions, deviations on this page limit are allowed if more material is requested by the editor or reviewers.
ORCID
All IEEE journals require an Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) for all authors. ORCID is a persistent unique identifier for researchers and functions similarly to an article’s Digital Object Identifier (DOI). You will need a registered ORCID to submit an article or review a proof in this journal. Learn more about ORCID and sign up for an ORCID today.

Preparing your article for submission is easy with IEEE Author Tools. Tools are available to help you find the right publication for your research, validate your LaTeX files, and verify your reference list.
Review process
The articles in this journal are peer-reviewed in accordance with the requirements set forth in the IEEE PSPB Operations Manual (sections 8.2.1.C & 8.2.2.A). Each published article was reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers using a single-anonymous peer-review process, where the identities of the reviewers are not known to the authors, but the reviewers know the identities of the authors. Articles will be screened for plagiarism before acceptance.
The first round of the review process usually requires about 60 days, with a maximum of 90 days. The author is then notified of the decision of the Editor or Associate Editor based on reviewer recommendations. The authors may be asked to revise the manuscript if it is not accepted or rejected in its original form. The elapsed time between receipt of a manuscript and publication is usually about 6 months, but is heavily dependent on the quality and clarity of the original manuscript.
Authors are therefore strongly requested to report on their work as open and clearly as possible in their original manuscript submissions. The editors and reviewers understand that not always all aspects of the design presented are perfect, but hiding such items from the readers is often a reason for several revisions, and often even rejection. The solid-state circuits community will also learn from the less-good aspects of the design presented, so authors are encouraged to present those as well.
Article Processing Charges (APCs)
For papers submitted in 2023, the APC is US $1995 plus applicable local taxes. The first 15 papers published in 2023 in the OJ-SSCS will receive a full waiver of the APC.
The following subsequent discounts apply:
- IEEE Members receive a 5% discount.
- IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society Members receive a 20% discount.
(5% and 20% discounts do not apply to undergraduate and graduate students. Discounts cannot be combined.)
Post-Acceptance
If your article is accepted for publication, you will receive emailed instructions regarding your next steps. You may be asked to upload final production-ready files. Shortly after final files are uploaded, you will receive your article proofs for final review, along with instructions on how to review your proofs and submit any corrections. Please note that major changes to your article, including the list of references, are not permitted after the article is accepted for publication. Please contact the Editor-in-Chief if you have any doubts about whether a modification you wish to make is appropriate.
